Led by Dr Marco Fiore from the institute of Cell Biology and Neurobiology ,Italy,the research team supplemented mice with natural extract from olive polyphenols ,they found it may increase the levels of NGFand BDNF in crucial areas of limbic system and olfactory bulbs,which play a key role in learning and memory processes.
This may be the first study to demonstrate in mouse model that the olive polyphenols may have effect on NGF/BDNF levels in selected brain areas.
